Sir Edmund Hillary Gold Coin This coin celebrates the life of Sir Edmund Hillary K.G., O.N.Z., K.B.E., the first man to reach the summit of Mount Everest and arguably New Zealand's most famous son. The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality. The coin's reverse depicts a portrait of Sir Edmund Hillary and his signature. Turtle Dreaming Rectangular Gold Coins There is huge international interest in Australian Indigenous art, the oldest ongoing tradition of art in the world, which The Perth Mint is proud to portray on these innovative rectangle-shaped coins. Created by Darryl Bellotti, an Indigenous artist of both Yamatji and Nyoongar descent, the design is inspired by his boyhood memories of a hunting trip in north-western Australia.
